Hands on Review: Transcend JetDrive Go – cheap external storage for your iPhone

Transcend JetDrive Go — a perfect solution for my storage problem. My 16GB iPhone 6 Plus had served me well for the last 18 months, but recently I had begun to run out of storage space.

iPhone external storage made easy. Transcend makes an external storage device called a JetDrive Go which attaches to the iPhone’s Lightning connector. For about $50 I quickly added 64GB of external storage to my iPhone. In other words it is a flash drive designed for iPhones and iPads.

The free app that comes with the JetDrive Go is versatile and intuitive. I was up and running with it in just a few minutes. I then put it to a copy test. I wrote 5GB of MP3 files, 1,218 songs, from my computer to the JetDrive Go in about two minutes. Impressive. I then copied many, many photos to the JetDrive Go and went back to my iPhone and deleted mucho gigabytes of now unnecessary data.

And this isn’t a cheap imported piece of junk. Features include:

  • Apple MFI-certification
  • Dual connector design: Lightning + USB 3.1 Gen 1
  • High-quality metallic body
  • 32, 64 or 128 GB models. Too see all the models and colors available, click here.
  • Password protect if you choose

Minor Cons:

  • The 64GB model, actually gives you 58.8GB of useable storage space.
  • Plastic protective caps cover both connectors which is nice, but it’s just a matter of time before I lose them.

I couldn’t be happier! Highly recommended.
